Coffee Cup Cozy – Free Crochet Pattern

This reusable cup cozy is quick and easy to make! Great for gift giving and keeping your hands protected from hot beverages. ♡ The stitch used for this pattern gives the cozy a soft, beautiful texture. It will be constructed by simply crocheting a rectangle and then seaming it together.

This pattern is made using Vanna’s Choice yarn by Lion Brand. I also love creating these cozies with Landscapes yarn by Lion Brand. Any worsted (weight 4) yarn will work perfectly fine, just be sure to check your gauge!

This pattern is made to fit standard coffee cups. You can adjust the size by simply crocheting more or less rows, or by using a larger/smaller crochet hook. Each cozy will not require much yarn. This pattern is perfect for using up leftover yarn from other projects. Make sure to subscribe to my blog for updates on new projects and patterns!

Materials:

CROCHET HOOK: 6.0mm – US J

YARN: Worsted weight yarn.

Recommended: Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand – Less than 1 ball

OTHER: Yarn needle, scissors

2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm) SC swatch = 8 sts x 8 rows

Finished Measurements:

Circumference: Approximately 8.5” (21.5cm)

Length: Approximately 3.25” (8.5cm)

Notes:

  • This is an easy/beginner level crochet pattern

  • The stitch count at the end of each row is shown in parenthesis ( )
  • The ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
  • This cozy will start out as a rectangle that will then be sewn up.

Pattern:

Ch 13

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 2 sts. For the next 6 sts, alternate between dc & sc starting with a dc. Sc in the last 3 sts. (12)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first 3 sts. For the next 6 sts, alternate between dc & sc starting with a dc. Sc in the last 3 sts. (12)

Rows 3 – 30: Repeat row 2

Cut the yarn (leaving a long tail that will be used to sew the edges together), fasten off.

Finishing Instructions:

Fold your cozy in half and sew the edges together with your yarn needle (I recommend using a blanket stitch). Fasten off securely and weave in loose ends. Turn your cozy right side out. You’re all done! ♡

This crochet headband is super fun and easy to make, perfect for beginners! These headbands are so cozy and cute, I find myself wanting to make one in every color possible. Plus, the pattern is so quick that you actually can make them in every color! The stitch used for this pattern gives the headband a nice knitted look and feel. It will be constructed by simply crocheting a long rectangle and then seaming it together with a slip stitch.

This pattern is for an adult size headband. You can make smaller sizes by simply starting with a shorter foundation chain and crocheting less rows. I will be writing another pattern featuring all sizes, including baby sizes, super soon! Make sure you subscribe to my blog to get notified when the new pattern is available.

Each headband will not require much yarn. This pattern is perfect for using up leftover yarn from other projects. Also, these headbands look extra cute with pom-pom ears! Try adding pom-poms in different color combos to the top for extra cuteness! Pom-pom instructions are included at the end of the pattern.

Gauge:

2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm) swatch = 7 sts x 5 rows

Finished Measurements:

Circumference: Approximately 16.5” (42cm)

Length: Approximately 3” (7.5cm)

This headband has plenty of stretch and fits most adult head sizes from 21 to 23 inches. (53-58.5cm)

Pattern:

Ch 11

Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in each ch across. (10)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. Crochet in the back loops only until you get to the last st. Hdc through both loops on the last st. (10)

Rows 3 – 42: Repeat row 2

Continue to finishing Instructions. Do not cut the yarn.

Finishing Instructions:

Fold your headband in half so that the first & last rows are lined up. When folded, the last row should be facing WS out & the first row facing RS out. Create a seam with a row of slip stitches.

Fasten off and weave in yarn ends. Turn your headband right side out & you’re all done!

Pom-Pom Instructions (Optional):

Using your pom-pom maker, make two fluffy pom-poms with the same color yarn as your headband, or a different yarn for an extra pop of color. Tie your pom-poms off leaving long tails to attach them to the headband.

Place pom-poms about 4” (10cm) apart on the front of your headband. Using your crochet hook, pull pom-pom tails though the headband. Turn headband inside out and tie pom-pom tails securely.

Next, weave yarn tails back through the top of the headband and incorporate them into the pom-pom. Cut tails so that they are the same length as the pom-pom strands.
