Yarn:

This project is definitely a stash buster, so get your scrap yarn out! I used Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand for my hearts because I had tons of scraps from previous projects, but you can use practically any yarn, any weight, and any hook size to make these. The options are endless, so get creative and try out some different combinations of yarn & hooks.

If you need some yarn inspiration, try browsing through one of my favorite online yarn shops: LoveCrafts!

Oh, how I love quick, cozy crochet projects 🪄🧶

I just revamped the free crochet pattern for my Charisma Infinity Scarf with a bunch of new chunky yarn recommendations. This scarf was named after my go-to yarn, Charisma from @michaelsstores

I have a Michael’s right down the street, but I know this yarn can be difficult to find if you don’t have one nearby. Additionally, bulky/chunky yarns can vary SOOO much that it’s not always easy to find a perfect alternative that will achieve the same results. So, I dug deep into the yarn world to find some of the best alternatives that will hopefully be more accessible to more people, while providing the same B-E-A-UTIFUL results.

Charisma yarn is on the thicker side, so some super-bulky yarns (weight 6) will also pair perfectly with this pattern. And if you have some worsted-weight yarn on hand, you can hold two strands together to make your own chunky yarn!

The best thing about this scarf is that no matter what yarn option you choose, it works up super quickly (about 2 hours!) ✨

You can find the free crochet pattern for my Charisma Infinity Scarf on my blog along with all of my yarn recommendations! I can’t wait to see all of your cozy creations! Don’t forget to tag me in your posts 🥰

Mohair season is upon us! 🧶 I absolutely love Mohair season is upon us! 🧶

I absolutely love this soft squishy fiber. It looks dreamy on its own or held with a strand of merino wool! Swipe to see some samples of these two yarns held together.

I wanted to experiment with some different stitches using these fibers and tried a simple lemon peel stitch at first. But my favorite stitch ended up being the waffle stitch 😍 that fuzzy little waffle texture is so cute & cozy!

I’m dreaming up some more mohair projects to create this autumn. What are your favorite things to make with mohair? 💭

You don’t need to learn a bunch of fancy new sti You don’t need to learn a bunch of fancy new stitches to turn yarn into something beautiful! Some of the prettiest designs that I’ve seen were made using simple/basic crochet stitches.

Of course, learning new stitches can be fun and help you improve your skills, but practicing & using the basic stitches is fun too, and it will help you build upon your foundational crochet skills.

You can also add some flair to the basic crochet stitches (SC, DC, & HDC) by using different techniques. For example:
🪄 Work your stitches into the front or back loops only (I’m working my DC stitches into the front loops on the piece I’m making in this video!)
🪄 Use a combination of basic stitches together to create a new stitch (like the lemon peel stitch!)
🪄 Incorporate chains to create eyelets or mesh stitches (look up the double crochet mesh stitch & linen stitch to see some examples of this!)

I love using these super simple techniques to jazz up my crochet pieces, and I find all of these stitches & techniques to be so relaxing 😌

Hexagon cardigans are my newest addiction! They’re so relaxing to stitch up, and this one is working up so quickly using an 8mm hook and granny clusters 🪄🧶

I’m using the Campfire Cardigan pattern by @makeanddocrew and this whole project really is making me want to go camping! 🏕️

I put my perfect autumn color palette together using Skein Tones & Basic Stitch from @lionbrandyarn and I’m just throwing them together without any real plan in mind. Honestly, just grabbing a new color as I go is my favorite way to make multi-color projects like this 🍂

Has anyone else started working on cozy fall projects yet? 🥰

The #HammadaHeadwrap pattern will officially be re The #HammadaHeadwrap pattern will officially be released on August 8th! 🌾

This lil picot headwrap has lots of lovely textures, it works up quickly, and it’s multi-seasonal! I’ve been wearing mine a ton this summer and plan on wearing it throughout fall. I’m thinking about making a warmer winter version with some merino wool as well!

I created this pattern using 24/7 Cotton from @lionbrandyarn 🧶

24/7 Cotton is a worsted weight yarn, however, it’s on the thinner side so some DK weight yarns will work as well! Some suitable alternatives that I’ve tried so far are Hobbii Rainbow cotton 8/8, Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8, and Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran. My testers have found some excellent alternatives too which I’ll be sharing with y’all soon!

Either way, this is a great project for using up some leftover yarn in your stash, or a great excuse to get some new yarn 😜

This pattern will be available on all of your favorite pattern platforms: Etsy, Ravelry, Ribblr, LoveCrafts, and of course, for free on my blog! If you’d like to get notified when the pattern is available you can either tap the reminder button on this post, or subscribe to my newsletter (the link for that is in my bio!) Newsletter subscribers will get a special discount code for the PDF 🥰

Took my newest design to the blocking mats! What’s your preferred method of blocking?

I used the spray blocking method for this piece for quick drying and it worked perfectly! I can’t wait to show you all the final product once I weave in my ends and take some better pictures.

I learned my lesson with wet blocking when I tried to wet block a super thick cotton rug and it took over 4 days to dry 🤦‍♀️ I know wet blocking is a great method for lightweight garments though and honestly if my dinner table wasn’t the only large surface available in my tiny apartment I’d probably use it for all of my garments. So personally, I love spray blocking, it’s quick and it works great 💦

I have a steamer too that I’ve never even used! I didn’t want to steam this piece because it’s a cotton/acrylic blend and I’ve read that steam isn’t good for synthetic fibers?? Maybe y’all can share your knowledge with me because I’m definitely not a blocking expert and I’ve been dying to try my cute little steamer!

This big rectangle that I’m blocking is actually a super cute v-neck poncho-ish t-shirt that I randomly had the urge to design this summer. I’m not quite sure what to name this design or what to even call it? Is it a poncho? Beach cover-up? Oversized tee? Whatever it is, I will tell you that it looks SO CUTE on!

I’ll be making a few little adjustments to this design and sharing more info about the upcoming pattern soon ✨

I started a new, relaxing summer project 🍑

I’ve been wanting to crochet myself a bag for a while and I finally found the perfect pattern! This pattern is the Breezy Days Daisy Bag by @allaboutami 🌼

I love trying out different types of granny squares. And I’m not gonna lie, I can be pretty picky about how I make my granny squares. I like to use invisible joins and standing double crochet stitches to make my rounds look super neat and seamless. But I didn’t do any of that for these squares! I love that these squares look so neat and pretty without having to use any complicated techniques.

I shopped my stash for this project and found the perfect colors in this lovely, soft cotton yarn! The yarn is @paintboxyarns Cotton Aran 🪄🧶

What are some of your favorite things to make with granny squares? This is my first time making a bag with them, but I’m loving it so far!

What’s on your summer project list? 🌞 Aside What’s on your summer project list? 🌞

Aside from a couple projects I’ve already started, I’ve been dying to make some bags. I haven’t quite settled on one yet because there are SO many bags I want to make! I love the idea of making a granny square tote, but I’m also loving the idea of a biiiig beach bag with open stitches 🌊

There are a couple little ones I want to make too like a bum bag and a cute little purse for my toddler. I already have my eyes on a few patterns, but feel free to send me your favorite bag patterns 🥰

Also, I’m so sorry if you’re tired of seeing me post 24/7 Cotton from @lionbrandyarn but I just can’t get enough of this yarn! It’s the perfect yarn for any summer project. I recently posted a 24/7 Cotton yarn review on my blog, and I featured this yarn in the first edition of my Beginner Crochet Guide, Building Your Crochet Kit, because it’s sooo easy to work with. Plus, it comes in all of the shades from my dream color palette 🪄🧶

I’ll try to stop obsessing soon, but ya’ll know how it is when you have a favorite yarn 💁‍♀️

Which crochet stitches help you relax the most? 😌

Honestly, I think crocheting always calms me down no matter what stitch or pattern I’m using, but I love simple projects without too much shaping or extra details sometimes when I just want to zone out!

I also love projects with a variety of stitches. I get so excited when I know that the next row is going to have a different stitch. I think mixing stitches keeps projects fun & meditative. Does anyone else get excited about this or am I just a crochet nerd? 😂🤓

This is a new design I’m working on for a beach cover up / poncho type top! I’m having so much fun with this project, I feel like I can’t stop crocheting until I see it finished 🪄🧶

The yarn is @bernatyarn Softee Baby Cotton in Feather Grey 🪶 from @yarnspirations the softness and drape of this yarn is so beautiful 😍
