24/7 Cotton by Lion Brand – 100% cotton, mercerized, worsted weight
The recommended yarn for this pattern is 24/7 Cotton by Lion Brand. This yarn is mercerized which gives it added durability, a shinier look, and incredible stitch definition. The unique texture of this yarn helps to wick away water so your coaster won’t look wet after holding a cold drink. The cotton fiber also makes it more absorbent to keep your surfaces dry and protected from water rings.
You can read more about this yarn in my 24/7 Cotton Yarn Review
When substituting the yarn, keep in mind that mercerized cotton works the best for this pattern, however, any cotton yarn would also be a good substitute.
Alternative yarn Suggestions
Tahki Yarns Cotton Classic – 100% cotton, mercerized, DK weight
non-mercerized yarn suggestions
If you can’t get your hands on some of the mercerized cotton yarns recommended for this pattern, you can also use a regular cotton yarn. Here are some of my favorite cotton yarns for this pattern:
Hobbii Rainbow Cotton – 100% cotton, DK weight
Hobbii Friends Cotton – 100% cotton, DK weight
Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran – 100% cotton, Aran weight
KnitPicks Dishie – 100% cotton, worsted weight
Lily Sugar’n Cream – 100% cotton, worsted weight
